Corsair Virtuoso XT Wireless RGB Gaming Headset Review

Time for an early retirement

One of the last headsets I reviewed before the pandemic lockdowns of 2020 was the original Corsair Virtuoso. It was a decent first attempt at a flagship headset paired with a compelling lower price point, and seemed like a good platform for future product development.

Last summer, Corsair took another stab at it with the Virtuoso XT. They added Bluetooth support alongside some very small design tweaks, and cranked up the price into true flagship territory at $269.

Now, another year after that, I finally picked one up on sale to check it out and see whether it still holds up. Unfortunately, this is a prime example of a product trying to fix things that weren’t broken, and the market (including Corsair’s own headset lineup) has done such a tremendous job of catching up that this is now a headset completely out of its depth.

I bought this headset with my own funds at retail. I wasn’t asked by Corsair to write this — though if you read the whole thing, that should be obvious. I never use affiliate or sponsored links.

The Corsair Virtuoso XT sells for a standard price of $269 (official site here), putting it well above the $180/$209 launch price points of the original Virtuoso and Virtuoso SE models. I say…
