They’re certainly up there! That’s a testament both to their performance…and to the fact that I mostly use closed-back headphones because that’s what I need for work.

I haven’t heard the 599’s, their replacement, yet…but people I trust have said they’re exceptional. I also think the DT990 has an excellent soundstage if you can deal with the treble peakiness. If you don’t listen at high volumes and don’t mind treble detail, they’re a great pick.
