A Review of the Razer BlackShark V3
A total rebuild of an icon
UPDATE (11/3/25): Well, Razer did a stupid thing marketing this very family of products, and they no longer deserve my praise, I’m afraid! I feel bad about writing such a positive review of this now. You can still buy and enjoy this, I guess, but you’ll be supporting a product that was marketed with brazen outdated tropes. Yikes.
Razer’s BlackShark V2 lineup endured longer on the market than some of its competitors due to its excellent design. It had an impressive five year run at retail in a space that’s normally obsessed with 18-month product cycles.
Whether you were looking at the cheapest wired model, or its 2023-refreshed Pro wireless variant, the BlackShark V2 was more or less the gold standard for gaming headsets across all its price ranges…as long as you don’t mind looking like a helicopter pilot.
The whole family was so competent and enjoyable that I couldn’t really imagine what Razer would do to make it meaningfully better. It turns out they just needed some cool new technology to catch up to their ambitions.
