The Razer Basilisk V3 Pro Has a Bad Batch of Dongles

Countless user defect reports appearing online

Last week, Razer completed their new trifecta of high-end premium wireless gaming mice with the sudden release of the Basilisk V3 Pro.

I was all ready to rush out and buy one to review — but then I saw many reports of issues flood the internet. It seems that a significant percentage of the launch shipments come with a USB dongle that either works intermittently or stops working after a few seconds and never comes back online.

You can find these reports for yourself here on Best Buy’s customer reviews page (not an affiliate link) or in many different threads like this one over on Reddit. Customers are going through cumulative dozens of mice in serialized returns, just to get a working dongle.

This is a huge bummer, and a sign that you should absolutely wait before buying this expensive $159 dollar mouse. Razer has yet to release much of an official statement on this, though it seems they are at least processing RMA returns of the entire mouse for those that go through their support process.

Until they get to a second shipment or issue some kind of firmware fix (if that’s even possible), stick to their other options or a different brand.
