Open galaxy? Ray tracing? Lady protagonist? Yes please!

I love a good space game. Any game where you fly around in a ship and blast at other ships with lasers, I’m in. I’ve loved this genre since I was a kid, and I’ll take it no matter the complexity. Whether it’s a rail shooter or a full-on sim, I’m keen to try it out. Star Fox? Mind-blowing to little me. Wing Commander? Yes, absolutely. I even liked the feature film. Starfield? If I must.

Over in Germany there’s a development studio called Fishlabs, and they probably love space action games at least as much as I do. I first encountered them through their long-running Galaxy on Fire series, which started out as a mobile game wonder and also came to other platforms throughout its life. These games took strong inspiration from stuff like Freelancer, blending a sweeping storyline with arcade-style touch screen-compatible space combat.

Since they were primarily made for mobile platforms, the Galaxy on Fire games never quite reached the same level of ambition as titles produced for more powerful hardware. So I was pretty excited when Fishlabs announced Chorus, a new original IP space game built from the ground up for PC and console platforms.
