The Batman Arkham Trilogy on Switch is a Bad Bat Botch

It’s somehow worse than I imagined

The flaming logo from Arkham Knight is somehow very appropriate. Nintendo Switch screenshot taken by the author.

In the lead-up to Rocksteady’s long-awaited return with their incredibly stupid-looking Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, I decided it would be fun to revisit their iconic older games. I was ready to buy the Arkham trilogy on Switch when it first launched late last year — but then I held off thanks to many middling reviews and videos shunning its broken technical performance.

Those reviews didn’t stop it from tearing up the Switch sales charts, but I managed to save myself from its misery — that is until a forty percent off sale I noticed on the eShop the other day. I am now the “proud” owner of the Switch ports of these legendary Batman action games, though they’re so covered in muck and technical problems that their original genius only barely shines through. The reviews were right. And nothing has improved since then.

These Arkham conversions were done by Turn Me Up, who have a solid track record porting things like the earlier Borderlands titles to Switch. This is their worst effort so far, and probably needed either more time in the proverbial oven or a cancellation.
