That is factually correct!

The oval ear cups on the RIG 800 are bigger than the circular ones on the 400…

But as I mentioned in my review of the 400, the pads are some of the few circular ones I’ve found very comfy. They’re cushy and easily mold around my ears, and there’s no sense of extreme clamping or discomfort. I usually hate circular ear pads, but not on the 400.

It’s very easy to haul the 400’s around and they’re $100 cheaper than the 800’s. For my personal day-to-day use, they make a lot of sense. And I think they would for a lot of other people as well. That line of thinking was the basis of this article, and I wasn’t really talking about which one had bigger pads/cups.

If you’re looking for something with the same design of the 800 but wires and less of a price tag, it looks like the RIG VR would be a good choice. It’s on my review list for sometime in the near future.
