I’d say that the rep was kind of right…in a way.

If I’m really generous.

When the bass boost feature on the N1 is turned off, I’d agree that it has a similar tuning to the 1000X. But when you turn on the bass boost on the N1…there’s no comparison. The N1 easily wins on bass quantity.

With the new Sony smartphone app, you can crank the bass on the N1 to absolutely stupid levels that the 1000X never comes remotely close to, and couldn’t hope to achieve without a separate external amp and dedicated EQ.

If you love bass, absolutely go for the N1. No contest. You’ll save some money too, since they’re cheaper. :)

I also haven’t heard of the N1 having the same sporadic build issues the 1000X has for some folks…so hopefully that’s not something that just hasn’t cropped up yet.
