Thanks for reading! As a Medium member, just reading my story and clapping for it means you already supported me twice, so thank you very much! I understand things are tight for everyone right now so even just sharing my stuff with a friend is more than enough to earn my thanks.

I haven't managed to get a Fidelio X3, no. Their new inflated $350 price point makes them a hard sell for me. I buy pretty much every headphone I review and I don't use affiliate links or take sponsorship deals, so spending $350 isn't something I'd do lightly...especially when the previous version goes for less than half of that.

Here's my review policy in case you haven't seen it:

Even if I was theoretically going to buy them and they were somehow in stock, my area is undergoing significant wildfire activity right now. As a result, all local shipping is substantially delayed. As a result, I don't have any headphone or headset content planned for the next couple of weeks.

From what people whom I trust have said about the X3...you're much better off getting the X2 instead if you can find one, unless you have to have that new headband design and aesthetic. The X2 is a headphone I've meant to try and review for a long time.

For PS4 headsets, I like the Cloud Alpha for wired use as it gets reasonably loud out of the controller. Zeus H510 is a good budget alternative.

Wireless is a huge field to choose from thanks to PS4's somewhat-universal USB compatibility. If you need surround, I think Sony's official Gold and Platinum options are best, though neither has the best mic or comfort. For third party stuff, I like HyperX's wireless Cloud Stinger and Cloud Flight, the Arctis 1, or maybe the old Rig 800 or Astro A20 if you can find a deal. Too many good options!
