Thank you so much for reading! Microphones…hmm…a very tough call actually. I don’t currently use a mechanical keyboard, so I’m honestly not sure which would do a better job of cancelling out the sound from that. But I’ll still try to comment.

I have used a Kraken Chroma 7.1 myself in the past, and I’ll say that it has an exceptional microphone. The mic on that headset is a little better than the mics on both the Kraken V2 and the Arctis. The new USB version of the V2 has that same awesome microphone, but if you’re looking at these two analog headsets…that doesn’t really help. But I thought I’d mention it!

I think the Arctis mic comes closer to matching the performance of the old Chroma mic. It’s a little more sensitive to positioning though. The V2 mic is maybe 80 percent as crisp as the one on the old Chromas. Certainly, they’re both in the upper tier of mic performance in the price range.

You might find this Youtube video helpful; it has a test of the Arctis mic in severe noise conditions.

Pretty neat huh? I still prefer the more natural, slightly less harsh sound of that Kraken Chroma 7.1 mic, but the Arctis has some solid noise cancelling.

Hope that helped you out!
