Starbucks Midnight Mint Mocha Frappuccino Review — Very Smooth!

I’m a Peppermint Mocha Frappuccino man, through to my core. It’s my favorite Starbucks Holiday Beverage (tm) and every year I drink a thousand of them and gain a thousand pounds.

When I discovered that a new drink launched this morning at Starbucks with the words Mint, Mocha, and Frappuccino in it, I hurriedly slammed the button on my mobile app as fast as I could, and now here I am.

The Midnight Mint Mocha Frappuccino is not just the classic Peppermint Mocha Frap in a new costume.

It’s much smoother. To the point where I can barely taste the coffee in it.

Now granted, that’s the case with most frappuccinos…and some might argue the whole point. Why would you want to taste coffee when you can taste a delicious milkshake instead? (I’m half-kidding I also love coffee please don’t scream at me below if you’re way into coffee oh god).

The new Midnight Mint tastes mostly of dark chocolate and whipped cream with precious little mint to be found.

That white stuff in the middle is a suspended layer of whipped cream right there in the center of your drink. If you’re a no-whip sort of person…there’s no point to ordering this.

It all blends together incredibly well in my mouth. It’s disturbingly pleasant and highly sippable, and I devoured it much faster than my average frappuccino drinking speed.

But wait, what about the mint? It’s in there. Just barely. Thanks to some magical “cooling” crystals of mint…basically just some stuff on the top that tastes like minty sugar. There’s also some chocolately stuff up there. More of this stuff got into the drink that I expected, thankfully, so it wasn’t just a meaningless mint garnish.

This new frappuccino is good, and thanks to the whipped cream in the middle, a little more fun than the regular Mocha frappuccino. And it has a smooth creamy texture that makes it quite a pleasure to taste and drink.

But… it’s not really a good stand-in for the classic Peppermint flavor offered during the holidays. And not remotely close to the same flavor.

Thank goodness, because otherwise I’d be ordering two of these a day until they stopped making them.

Please click the little heart if you liked this! Did you try the new Midnight Mint Mocha Frap? Leave a reply and tell me what you thought!
