Starbucks Iced Hazelnut Coconutmilk Mocha Macchiato Review

Finally, a Starbucks drink where I can taste all the things!

Upon my first sip of the Starbucks IHCMM, I was able to taste all of those capital letters in it and they all seemed to go together pretty well.

Yay!

Typically, I open these by talking about how the drink doesn’t really taste like coffee…but this one actually does! And it’s complemented quite well by the hazelnut. And just enough sweetness from the chocolate and that oh-so-rich coconut milk…which Starbucks always insists on spelling as one word instead of two.

Now, I’m not typically a huge fan of hazelnut. I have a friend who I’ve seen eat an entire jar of Nutella in one sitting, but that’s not me at all. I’m not anti-hazelnut, I just never seek them out.

However, as a splashed-in flavor to a drink I already generally love? It’s pretty great! If you’ve found the Cocomomac to be too sweet before, the hazelnut adds just the right amount of savory on top to help cover that up.

This drink is not without faults. Like all iced macchiatos, it falls apart a little bit in its bottom third…unless you drink it with lightning speed.

Once the drink gets down to about here, enough of the core components are gone and enough of the ice has diluted that you’re now left with a watery coffee mess that has some syrup at the bottom. It’s no longer the perfect blend of flavors, but a weird thin thing that reminds you of the good tastes you had just a few minutes ago.

Probably reason enough to go for a hot one. But the weather was nice outside today and the Starbucks app wanted me to try this, so I did.

I mostly didn’t regret it!
