The new limited-time Valentine’s week Starbucks Cherry Mocha Frappuccino…is totally just a mocha frappuccino with some cherry syrup inside and little red sprinkles on top.
The cherry flavor is less pronounced than I would like. It’s more “an additional bit of sugar” and less “a strong fruit taste.” The combination of chocolate and cherry is not the decadent cake-like pleasure you might be expecting. It’s more like a swirling mass of totally okay sugar.
Like other limited frappuccinos, you can’t taste the coffee at all.
As for those sprinkles? Like the Midnight Mint Mocha frappuccino from last year…they exist. Because they sit on the top of the drink, they don’t really start entering your straw until the middle/end of your enjoyment, and they taste vaguely of cherry and vaguely of sugar.
If you already like mocha frappuccinos, you’ll certainly enjoy this one as a slightly different take on your normal routine.
But I won’t miss them when they’re gone.
I probably won’t even remember I had one in a few weeks.
