Sony’s Forgotten Zombie Game Is Back on the Market at the Worst Possible Time

I’ve been a mildly excited fan of Sony’s 2019 zombie open world game Days Gone since its release. It tried just enough different things with the classic design formula of so many other games in both of its genres to stand out, and I’m also biased towards it because it was made and set in my home state of Oregon. The game reviewed and sold fine, then quickly dropped into obscurity without so much as a hint of a sequel or additional stuff coming out.

It was weird watching Sony trot out patches and re-releases for their other PS4 games as the PS5 generation got going, while leaving Days Gone in the dustbin. Last week that finally changed — but the apparently low development budget of the new version, combined with some astoundingly terrible release timing, have me feeling a bit frustrated.

Back on April 26th, Sony quietly dumped out Days Gone Remastered into a gaming market that was far too busy being excited about Oblivion and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. All three of these games are priced at the same fifty dollars, though existing owners of Days Gone on PS4 or PC can get an upgrade for ten bucks.
