I went into this review worried I wouldn’t love it, and came out thinking the Razer Viper V2 Pro is just one design tweak away from being my favorite gaming mouse. I’ve tested it for ten straight days of work and gaming over two charge cycles, and it’s a wonderful thing held back only by a legacy design choice that it still hasn’t overcome.

The original Razer Viper brough the unstoppable lightweight mouse trend into the mainstream, with an affordable price and a solid shell that didn’t need holes to be svelte. It has had a couple of small refinements over the years, including a wireless flagship, a more affordable mini version that’s all the rage, and an 8Khz iteration that replaced the original and packed it with fast tech and a frustrating cable.

Now, the Razer Viper V2 Pro (official site here) is out on shelves for the wallet busting price of $150. That puts it at the very top end of the market for mice that aren’t boutique limited runs. In the box you get the mouse, some grip tape, a flexible USB-C charging cable, a small extender dock for the dongle, and the HyperSpeed wireless dongle itself. I bought this mouse out of my own pocket at retail, and I don’t use affiliate links. I wasn’t asked by Razer to write this.
