Razer Basilisk V3 X HyperSpeed Gaming Mouse Review
Sometimes I have a visceral negative reaction to a tech product’s announcement, then decide to buy it and review it anyway to see if my gut feelings were right. That first happened with the Arctis Pro series of headsets, which promised a bunch of big things about hi-res audio in gaming years ago that still haven’t come to pass.
Now, the Basilisk V3 X HyperSpeed faces this negativity gauntlet. This new “budget” Razer mouse sits at $70 (official site here) and replaces a popular mouse that often sold for around $45. The rest of the Basilisk V3 range exists as Razer’s competitor to Logitech’s popular G502 mouse, with a similar shape and a scroll wheel that can swap between free and stepped scroll modes. The V3’s big new addition was a “smart” wheel system that dynamically adjusts these modes on the fly depending on how hard you spin the wheel.
This new “X” model doesn’t retain that feature, instead adding a new shiny bright RGB light inside the scroll wheel which otherwise functions just like any other standard model on the market.
