Logitech’s Romer-G Mechanical Gaming Switches Were Brilliant

I wish Logitech hadn’t abandoned their unique switch

Logitech makes a variety of mechanical keyboards right now, and their gaming models feature a choice of different “GX” switches. These come in the standard “Cherry Colors” of Red, Blue, or Brown, and have similar characteristics to the iconic German designs. I looked at the latest model of Logitech’s G Pro keyboard earlier this year with the clicky GX Blues and found the experience uninspiring.

That’s not entirely Logitech’s fault; they neither designed nor manufactured the GX series of switches. Instead, they’re the result of a new long-term partnership with Kailh, one of the largest makers of mechanical switches and components on the planet. The GX Red, Blue, and Brown switches are quite similar to the standard Kailh models carrying those colors but with Logitech branding. The GL low profile switches found in Logitech’s slimmest models are also re-branded Kailh parts. As much as their marketing department might try to convince you that Logitech keyboards have some special characteristics that might make them somehow better for gaming, there’s nothing here you won’t also get in any other Kailh-switch-containing keyboard, performance-wise.
