Back in the summer of 2023, Logitech refreshed their most expensive wireless PC gaming headset, and my first instinct was to scoff at it.

It has the same naming problem as all of Logitech’s higher-end gaming peripherals. Rather than come up with unique brands each time, they instead trot out “G Pro” and slap it onto every single thing they release, regardless of whether it’s a keyboard, or a mouse, or a pair of headphones. The result is a huge nightmare mess of products that all have the same exact name and are super difficult to search for even with the latest AI bots helping you out. “No, I meant ‘G Pro X 2’ the headset, not ‘G Pro X 2’ the mouse.” Maddening!

Also, rather than continue to develop their in-house G Pro speaker driver material (yes, they named their speakers the same exact thing as well), they switched to graphene. The latter is the current high end headphone speaker material du jour, and it’s starting to show up in more and more audio gear. It’s a lightweight super strong two dimensional material and is thus comically thin. That makes it theoretically perfect for incorporating into a headphone speaker to give it extra rigidity and better performance.
