I bought this business/collaboration headset without a second thought when I realized that it was a secret update of one of my favorite gaming models. I normally cover gaming headsets and headphones, control peripherals, and games themselves — so a business-focused communications headset is not in my normal tech wheelhouse.

However, this time my curiosity got the better of me — but maybe I should have ignored it. The Zone Vibe 125 goes for $129 (official site here), and in the box you get the headset itself, a USB-C charging cable, a USB-A dongle with USB-C adapter, and a carrying bag that smells strangely of charcoal and vague chemicals.

On the minus side, the dongle isn’t as widely compatible as the LightSpeed model used by the G435. My PlayStation 5 recognizes the Zone Vibe 125 as a mono chat headset instead of a full stereo model. It also doesn’t have the best transmission speed; I noticed some lag easily playing back audio tests on my Windows PC.

Fortunately, the core sound performance is great, just like on the G435. Whether you listen over the dongle or your own Bluetooth solution, the Zone Vibe 125 puts out powerful, clean audio with some gentle enhancement for both the bass and treble. If…
