In the newer article I linked at the very beginning of the one you’ve replied to, I did just that! Here’s another link.
The replacement pads have a slightly glossier finish to them than older M50 pads, though from the M50XBT I reviewed recently, it seems this is the new standard pad material.
Audio-Technica’s replacement pads are identical in terms of sound signature, so I think it’s easily worth replacing them if yours are worn out!
