If I understand correctly, it’s just about how the volume controls work.

If you use either transmitter in PC mode with a PS4, it’ll show up as a Generic USB headset, and you have to control all the volume settings within the PS4 UI.

In PS4 mode, the volume controls on the headset itself will be fully enabled, allowing you to balance the game and chat audio without opening up the PS4 menu on-screen.

If you can live with the mild annoyance of using the PS4 menus to set your volume levels, in my opinion the Xbox version is the better buy if you own all three platforms.
