I personally think it’s unreasonable to expect every title to develop brand new mechanics, especially in a space as codified, iterative, and genre-based as AAA gaming. Without building on past work, you’re making several new small piles of rubble, not a city.

I’ve seen “outdated” and “reused gameplay” lobbed at so many different titles over the years, even when they are working to expand established tropes and vocabularies.

Some of the job board missions and events in Outlaws are randomized, but the core content is far more authored, tailored, and interesting from a level design perspective than anything Ubisoft has done in a generation, in my personal opinion.

Thanks for reading! :)
