I agree that the G604 makes a little more sense as a productivity mouse. However, Logitech has very aggressively marketed it towards the gaming segment, so I evaluated it as such. It carries their "G" gaming label, uses tech from their gaming division, and has animated advertising where its buttons turn into axes and swords.
If they shifted it over to their productivity lineup, I think it would face tough competition from their MX Master series. The identically-priced Master 3's thumb wheel and gesture support seem like better features to me personally. It has wider surface support thanks to its laser sensor, which is still important in that space if you're using a non-standard desk.
I'm glad you enjoy this mouse, but it's not up to consumers to contort their opinions to account for poor marketing on the part of a big company. They don't need nor deserve that sort of defense if they whiff their target.
