HyperX Alloy Origins 65 Gaming Keyboard Review
HyperX already makes both a TKL keyboard and a 60 percent keyboard that I really enjoy. The Alloy Origins Core (I guess “Core” means TKL) was my first exposure to one of their gaming keyboards, and I was surprised at how well it was built. The only thing holding it back was the included ABS key caps. They were fine, but they were also clearly a subtle nudge to get you to buy their PBT upgrade set for a few dollars more.
PBT is a more durable material, and usually sounds better when thocking away on a keyboard. It’s popular in the gaming community because gamers tend to be tough on peripherals sometimes. Fortunately, the Alloy Origins 60 fixed this oversight and included PBT caps in the box. It also included a fun bonus space bar that had a topographic pattern on it and an escape key featuring the HyperX logo.
I’m going through all these details because the new Alloy Origins 65 shares many of them. It has the same aluminum build and industrial design as the other Alloy Origins models, but now in a 65 percent form factor. Essentially, it’s the Alloy Origins 60 with one additional row of keys on the right side and dedicated arrow keys.
