Hello! Thanks for reading and the reply!
The Cloud II’s are still a pretty great choice so I bet you’ll be happy with them. :)
The USB dongle might improve your sound quality, depending on what hardware you’re using right now. If you’ve got decent onboard sound, a sound card, or a DAC/Amp combo already, you won’t notice any difference with the dongle.
HyperX doesn’t say much about the DAC/amp components they’ve put into the dongle, so I don’t think they’re anything special or expensive.
I don’t love the way the dongle sounds but some people swear by it. And yes, its other main features are the volume and 7.1 stuff. I listened to mine a few times and then it found a permanent home in my closet, before I sold that unit when I switched to the Cloud X (an essentially identical headset that doesn’t come with the dongle but includes a hard case).
If you already like your current sound card I wouldn’t blame you for just sticking with that. I mean, it wouldn’t hurt to compare it with the dongle once you get it, just for fun! :)
Hope you have fun with the Cloud II’s!
