Well, I generally tend to prefer leatherette, but it really depends on what your use case is.

Leatherette pads seal better against the head, and provide more isolation and bass response. But, over time, they build up heat, and your head will start to sweat. If you wear them for a long time, there will be a thin layer of sweat and oil on the pads you’ll have to wipe off.

Cloth pads ventilate much better, and some of them still provide decent isolation and bass response, depending on the foam used underneath the cloth. I found both bass and isolation acceptable on my cloth-covered RIG 800’s. Cloth pads also tend to have a more open, airy sound.

If they’re both the same price, I’d personally choose the leatherette. If one is cheaper, I’d choose whichever is cheaper!
