Hahaha, I very much appreciate the way that you worded this question so as not to wind up my particular sensitivities about headphone questions. That’s great! :)

I personally slightly prefer the sound performance of the G Pro. It’s a little more aggressive, a little wider, a little more… “tuned for gaming” shudder. It has some small peaks in its response in spots that make gaming audio a little more exciting. And it’s great for picking out footsteps. Not a surprise, considering that it was designed based on feedback from Pro gamers.

The Cloud Alpha has a gentler, more neutral, very clean sound. If I had to do critical listening/production work, I’d pick it first. It’s a sound that I literally can’t complain about in any meaningful way.

I could say more…but honestly you should just watch this new video HardwareCanucks put up. Those guys are great.

In short, I think you should decide based on which one has the features and the look you like, as they’re both really good. I prefer the microphone of the G Pro and slightly prefer its sound, but I personally think the Cloud Alpha is nicer-looking and more comfy on the head.
