Haha, noted! I will keep the Marshall’s in mind for the future. I can sympathize with finding too much clamp uncomfortable. I almost never wear on-ear headphones, myself, for this very reason.
In my experience, finding something that’s both Wireless and tuned for Critical Listening is tough.
The Sony 1000X and the Bose QC35 are the two major players in the high-end wireless field right now, but both of them have sound signatures that are titled just warm of neutral, for added consumer friendliness. Plus, the 1000X is in a weird limbo where a new model is about to come out and the old model had possible build quality issues.
From what I’ve heard through others, Audio-Technica’s DSR7BT and DSR9BT retain their trademark sound in a portable wireless package…but for me personally, they’re both relatively expensive and feature-light compared to other models. But I guess that could be an option.
I think the industry right now assumes that the mainstream consumer, who is also the most likely to be looking for a wireless pair, will want something a little more friendly/”pleasant” than the average studio sound.
And they also figure that studio producers will want the reduced latency and equipment flexibility that wired connections provide.
It’s a crappy reality then, if you’re looking for a perfect jack-of-all-trades headphone. I don’t think that really exists. Someone else might have found one, but I never have. I’m sorry that I don’t have better advice for you!
This conundrum is what has lead to the typical scenario of buying two pairs: One for at-home critical listening, and a wireless pair for exercising/coffee shops/commuting/etc. I don’t think this is anywhere close to ideal, but with today’s products and technology, it’s probably the best you can do since Sound Quality is a priority for you.
Also, many people are happy enough with the sound that comes out of their Beats product, and the Solo 3 wireless fills all of their needs. That’s not going to do well for you at all, of course, from what we’ve talked about…but it kind of shows you how much subjectivity is present in the hobby.
