Hah! Great/cute gimmick! :)

All of the things you say are true. The Alpha has a more natural, even sound to it, with a clean listening profile that I’d wager almost no one could hate. The mids are nice and accurate, and nothing is too harsh or aggressive.

The DT770 gets to its crazy soundstage in two ways: big ear cups, and boosted upper mids/treble. That treble is often a little too much for some listeners…but the bass is completely luxurious. It’s not so much that the mids are reduced, as it is that the treble and bass are boosted and stomp all over them. But that’s a dumb mathematic distinction.

If you’re a mids-lover, (and really, that’s a lovely type of listener to be), the DT770’s and indeed most Beyerdynamic headphones probably won’t be for you. Their mids are wonderful, but they often get overshadowed by everything else.

Thanks so much for reading and the question!
