Beyond a certain level of streaming quality (which all the basic streaming services hit), I’ve never personally successfully passed an ABX test as far as sound quality goes, even on the high-end studio gear.

The only differences I’ve ever found are down to the masters used in the encoding process, or errors/differences in the way the files are made. But that’s just my own experience! I do enough audio editing work for my real job that I don’t always want to do hyper-critical listening for minute differences in my off time.

You might have a good time playing around with this site on your gear, or a few others around online. It seems like it’d be right up your alley.
