Beyerdynamic DT 700 Pro X Headphones Review
The weirdest thing to me about Beyerdynamic’s $300 DT 700 Pro X headphones is that they have a nigh-identical headband design to the company’s recent $99 gaming headset.
From what I can tell without pulling it apart, this premium studio headphone uses the exact same design spec, materials, and clicking adjustment mechanic for the ear cups as the gaming model. It has the same clamping force, and a similar level of headband padding too. The lone headband difference in the DT 700 Pro X is that you can pull out the padding and replace it when it becomes worn.
I personally think that this is a smart bit of efficiency. It’s a solid headband with plenty of room for most heads, and I’m okay with it making a barely-upgraded appearance on these more expensive headphones. If you can get past this little fact without feeling “cheated,” then you’ll find that the DT 700 Pro X is one of the best studio headphones of all-time. It’s a new performance stalwart that can stand proudly against other laudable efforts like the AKG K371 and Sennheiser HD 560S.
If the price on these creeps down over time, the rest of the studio headphone market is in a lot of trouble.
