Are you using the Pro or the Edition version of the DT880?

The Pro has a tighter clamp and, when combined with the soft foam of the 880 pads, is indeed more likely to push the insides of the cups into your ears. The Edition/Premium versions of the 880 have a dramatically reduced clamping force, and in my experience, were quite comfy.

The 770 I mention in this article has much thicker/denser foam in its pads than the 880 and 990 do, which helps keep them off your ears and improves their isolation.

All I’m saying is, if you’re using the Pro 880….it might not be your ears giving you the trouble!

I don’t have any good shops in my area either for trying stuff out, and I’ve had to primarily rely on return policies for those rare moments where things don’t work out. I also regularly sell my old headphones off.

This article is getting increasingly old and out-of-date, and I’ll have to update it one of these days when I have time in my schedule. First on my list to add to it is the Arctis 2019 edition.

Thanks again for reading.
