Ah I see!

If you want a mute button…that complicates things a little bit. Because of course, right? The Cloud Core doesn’t have any kind of audio controls built-in…it’s one of the sacrifices they made in order to get the price down.

For a mute button /switch that doesn’t require USB, you’ll need the Cloud I, the Cloud Silver, the Cloud X, or the Cloud Alpha. There’s lots of info to click through over at HyperX’s headset landing page.

As far as mic quality differences…there’s not a big gap in quality between any of these. Although the Alpha has the “newest” microphone…it’s only maybe 20 percent better than the older models sound quality wise. It was one of the most disappointing things about the headset to me. That’s not to say that any of them have a bad mic, far from it…I just wish the Alpha’s mic had been better.
