A Tale of Clouds and Wind Nintendo Switch Review
Capcom’s seminal arcade brawler classic Knights of the Round is one of my favorite games. It’s a side scrolling romp through a series of stages and increasingly strong enemies, casting you as one of three knights who has to button mash their way to victory.
The game launched in arcades in the early 90’s and came to the Super NES a while later. I played both versions extensively as a child, and to this day I’ve never managed to beat the SNES version’s brutal last couple of boss encounters.
When I saw QuByte’s latest “classics” release A Tale of Clouds and Wind pop up on Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and PlayStation recently, my first thought was “wow that sure looks like Knights of the Round.” QuByte is a Brazilian company and they’ve spent the last several years putting out a fun mix of classic arcade re-release collections and some original stuff. I enjoyed their collection of the Vasara shooter series, which has a bonus new game in it as well. They also recently put The Immortal back out into the world, one of the games I consider essential. If I ever pick this series back up, it’s absolutely getting an article, and if you’ve ever loved a Souls game you’d probably get a kick out of it.
